Minced Beef Pie Madalena Recipe

The minced meat pie Madalena is one of those classic Brazilian recipes that pass from generation to generation. So no wonder it tastes like childhood and reminds you of grandma's food! In fact, this Madalena minced meat pie recipe is a little meat hideaway with slightly different seasonings: the flavor of the dough reminds potato gnocchi and the meat is seasoned with Worcestershire sauce. Ingredients for making minced meat pie:

For the puree:

 1 kg of potato baroa or asterix

 6 tablespoons of wheat flour

 1 beaten egg

 ¼ cup of grated parmesan cheese

 nutmeg to taste

 salt to taste

For the meat stuffing:

 500 grams of ground beef

 1 chopped onion

 1 chopped tomato

 2 tablespoons of oil or olive oil

 5 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

 1 bay leaf

 Black pepper

 salt

How to make Pie Magdalene with ground beef:

Start by peeling the potatoes, cutting them into pieces and cooking in a pan with water and a little salt until they are soft, breaking up.

Meanwhile, prepare the stew of the meat: in a pan with oil or olive oil, sauté the onion until it begins to brown. Then add the bay leaf and tomato and saute until tender.

Add the meat and cook, stirring, until loose. Then season with salt and pepper, add Worcestershire sauce and continue cooking for another 10 minutes or until meat is done. This is the filling of the minced meat pie Madalena, so it should be very tasty! When it's up to you, turn it off and reserve.

When the potatoes are ready, drain the water and reduce to puree. Let it cool a little before adding the egg, flour and cheese, then mix well and season with nutmeg and salt.

To assemble this minced meat pie Madalena recipe, grease a baking sheet and spread half of the mashed potato on the bottom. Then add the meat, spreading it well over all the puree, and cover with the remaining puree.

If you want to finish the pie by brushing the puree with a beaten egg yolk, this way it will be shiny and more appetizing! Bake in a preheated oven at 180ºC for 40 minutes or until golden.
